Animal Reiki

Although there is no belief system required for Reiki to work, many practitioners, myself included, who have worked with animals find that animals respond very quickly to the healing energy probably for that very reason – they do not have any preconceived ideas or beliefs. Animals live in the moment.

Every animal Client is different. Different in their personality and different in their healing requirements. The beauty of Reiki as a complement to traditional veterinary treatment is that the animal is in control at all times. Reiki is versatile. It can be given from a distance and can therefore be adapted to suit any given situation. As an example, Gaile recently worked with a horse which had begun displaying stressful and mistrusting behaviour, often refusing to leave the yard and actually becoming quite dangerous to herself and others if put under what she perceived to be stress. Her owner had tried everything she said and Reiki was a last resort (as it so often is). Gaile began working with the horse from outside her stall, gradually gaining her trust. After only four sessions she received a full hands-on session from nose to tail, completely relaxed – actually, asleep. There was no place on her body she didn’t want Gaile to touch. The change in her was amazing. We recently spoke to her owner to find out how she was doing and this is what she said,

S. is doing fantastically…..I can’t thank you enough for what you did for her (S.). She is back to her normal self.

Reiki is a gentle, pain-free, non-intrusive and stress-free experience for animals. They are in control. They can move in and out of it if they so wish, shift themselves into a position that suits them and that guides the practitioner to where they would like to receive it and they can take as much or as little as they choose. In fact, many animals begin to actively seek out Reiki.

As with human beings, the effects of Reiki on animals can be varied – between animals and between sessions. However, Reiki is always beneficial and will always go to where it is needed most at any given time and for the animal’s highest good.
